The man, 30, explained that he is raising a six-year-old girl who is not his biological daughter. He had been a close friend of the girl’s parents, aged 23 and 25, who were tragically killed in a workplace shooting when the child was just six months old. With no surviving family members able to take her in, he adopted the girl and has raised her as his own ever since.
