In a disturbing reminder of the harassment many women face daily, a 23-year-old woman shared on Reddit that she experienced two separate incidents of inappropriate behaviour in Bengaluru — both on the same day.

The first incident happened during evening rush-hour traffic near KR Puram. The woman was travelling with her family in her father’s car. The roads were packed due to heavy rain. As she waited in the jam, she glanced at a nearby vehicle. A man sitting inside, who appeared to be with his family, made eye contact with her. Shockingly, he made a kissing gesture.

“To my shock and disgust, he had the audacity to make a kissing gesture at me. I was so taken aback that I immediately looked away,” she wrote in her post. “I wish I’d had the presence of mind to call him out or even just flip him off, but with my family around, I just couldn’t bring myself to react.”

Later that evening, the woman said she faced another unpleasant encounter. While she was out, a delivery agent she did not know winked at her while passing by. The back-to-back experiences left her angry and exhausted.

“A random delivery guy had the nerve to wink at me,” she wrote. “Two completely unsolicited, disgusting encounters in the span of just a few hours. It’s honestly infuriating how some men have absolutely no sense of respect or decency. No matter the setting — public spaces, heavy traffic, even when they’re with their own families — they behave shamelessly. It’s exhausting and gross.”

The woman’s Reddit post has received support from many users, who said they too had faced similar situations.

“That’s so disgusting and frustrating. Some men just have zero shame or basic decency, it’s exhausting to deal with this kind of behavior all the time,” a comment read.

“Banglore is losing it’s most important tag and that was being safe,” an account wrote.

So far, no official police complaint has been filed. The identity of the woman or the details of the incidents could not be independently confirmed. Her post has started a conversation online about the regular harassment women face in public places and the need for stronger awareness and accountability.
