How to keep children connected with their mother tongue during studies, so that they do not be far away from learning other languages. To discuss this issue, ABP Live organized ABP Smart Education Conclave on Monday (June 9), in which many veterans associated with the education sector spoke. In this episode, Ritika Anand, Principal of St. Mark Senior Secondary Public School, New Delhi, Supreti Chauhan, Principal of Delhi Public School on Noida Expressway and Amol Arora, MD of Shemark and Shemford Group of Schools, expressed their opinion on the R-1 and R-2 model.
The connection of children will increase with mother tongue
Ritika Anand told that in today’s era, it has become very important to introduce children to their mother tongue. Due to this, the R-1 and R-2 models are very much discussed. This is the reason that when there is a conversation with children in schools, it should be in the language in which they usually talk in their house. This will increase their association with their mother tongue. Their local language is different in most states. There is no Hindi local language everywhere. Even if we talk about Delhi only, not everyone’s mother tongue is Hindi here. The more languages you get to the child, the better. It will not be the right step to tie it in some scope.
Every child’s local language is different
Supriti Chauhan said that it is very important that children be taught about their mother tongue. It is very important to know the mother tongue in the early stages of education. However, the biggest challenge here is that the local language of all children studying in any school is not Hindi or English. If someone belongs to another state, then his local language is different. Each state has its own separate language, where it is mandatory to study in local language in schools. In such a situation, the importance of R-1 and R-2 models increases a lot. In such a situation, our responsibility regarding mother tongue increases a lot.
First of all need to understand the problem
Amol Arora said that in fact we are raising the problem incorrectly. We are often entangled between Hindi medium and English medium education. In such a situation, the problem is that the child is understanding things in his mother tongue, but it is being told in English. In such a situation, it is not necessary that the same formula works everywhere. For this, it is better to discuss in the society. Now it is not possible that if the child comes to speak English, he will succeed. Now AI is also doing English work. Instead of applying the R-1 and R-2 models, it needs to be understood, so that the development of children can improve.
