While the digital age has brought countless advantages—from seamless communication to enhanced access to information and economic growth—it has also opened the door to new forms of criminal behaviour. Identity theft, cybercrime, online fraud and unauthorised surveillance are now growing concerns. One such incident has sparked intense debate online after a video showed an influencer being confronted by locals for allegedly recording a woman without her consent using AI-enabled smart glasses.
In the viral clip, the influencer—shirtless and known online as “rizzzcam” (real name Christopher John)—is seen striking up a conversation with a local woman. Unaware that she is being filmed, the woman mentions she has a boyfriend, while the influencer continues probing her about the dating scene.
As the discussion started, a passer-by wearing a plaid shirt noticed something and promptly interfered. The man, repeatedly pointing at the glasses and yelling “camera,” shouted out the recording. The woman quickly moved away as the situation between John and the bystander worsened. “I’ve been waiting for this,” the local guy said while trying to grab the smart glasses. John resisted and moved away from him.
“You’re that dude, right?” says the passer-by. “You guys are creeping on those girls over here, that’s you right?” He further asked the influencer to move away from the location. “Go to the other street out of respect for the locals.”
Taking to Instagram, John himself posted the video on his page with the caption calling it an example of how to “de-escalate a situation.”
“Sometimes people will try to get a reaction out of you on stream – but the meat move is not to react at all. Stay grounded, stay calm,” he mentioned.
In no time, the comment section was flooded with reactions from the audience. An Instagram user wrote, “So you can harass women, but don’t like it when it’s done to you!!! Local legend right there.” Another one commented, “Oh wow are people finally realizing that discreetly recording women with secret camera glasses is hella weird and shouldn’t have following.” One person shared, “Respect for the local.”
“Need more guys like this what a legend. That’s exactly how the woman you harass for your weird a** content feel,” a comment reads. A person wrote, “Put on a shirt and stop harassing people for terrible content.”
The clip has got more than 1.7 crore views since it was shared online.
Looking at his profile, John often shares ‘point-of-view’ videos of approaching women in public to talk about dating.
