The UP woman alleged being threatened by her husband after finding a forged passport and other documents in his belongings.

The woman informed police about husband’s involvement in “anti-national” activities.

In a display of responsible citizen behaviour, a woman from Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district reported her husband to the police after discovering forged documents in his name. The documents included fake Aadhaar cards, a passport, and educational certificates. Suspecting his involvement in anti-national activities, she promptly alerted local authorities, triggering an investigation into the matter.

An FIR was lodged at the Shamli Kotwali police station on Tuesday against the man named Mohammad Intazar, 34. The complainant named Manisha, shared that she got married in 2017. Stating that their relationship remained quite stable for a few years when her husband worked close to home. However, he then moved to Dehradun to work as a bouncer.

Noticing that her husband’s interaction with the family started becoming less frequent, Manisha started having doubts about his activity. It was then that she went through his belongings and found several government identification documents, including multiple Aadhaar cards and marksheets in different names. Not just that, she also found a certificate that mentioned Mohammad as an “unmarried man.”

In her complaint, Manisha shared that she was threatened by her husband to kill her and their two children after she confronted him. She alleged that Mohammad assaulted her when he came back home and tried to seize the documents. Having managed to hold on to some of the documents, Manisha approached the police and filed a complaint.

A case has now been filed under BNS sections 336(2) (forgery), 337 (forgery for cheating), 339 (cheating), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt).

Speaking on the matter, SP Ram Sewak Gautam said that the allegations of anti-national activities are being deeply probed, while the police are also looking at the possibility of a domestic dispute that could have triggered the allegations by the woman. The authenticity of the documents submitted by Manisha is being verified, while further details have been withheld due to the pending investigation.

If confirmed to be involved in illegal activities as claimed by her wife, the case could be a major breakthrough for the police, especially at a time when the Indian government has been stringent against terrorism and anti-national activities across the country. Earlier this year, the Parliament passed the Immigration and Foreigners Bill 2025 to regulate the immigration, entry, and stay of foreigners in India in the bid to enhance national security.
