Manoj Kumar signed Monica Bedi on a 3 -year contract
Monica Bedi was not initially not particularly interested in acting, she loved dance more. She came to Mumbai to take training in classical dance and started learning from famous dance teacher Gopi Guru. During one of his sessions, veteran actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar saw his talent. Impressed by his dance, he offered him the lead role with his son Kunal Goswami in the film record.

According to media reports, Manoj Kumar signed Monica Bedi on a 3 -year contract, under which he was not allowed to work in any other film. However, his home production could not become a record. He spent almost two and a half years in Portuguese jail before being sent to India. According to Hindustan Times, Monica was sentenced to five years in jail by the CBI court, which was later reduced to three years by the Andhra Pradesh High Court. By 2007, Monica had completed her sentence and was released after spending a total of five years behind bars from 2002 to 2007.

After completing the jail sentence, Monica Bedi tried to come back to reality shows like Bigg Boss 2 and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. He also worked in TV serials like Saraswati Chandra and Bandhan. Apart from this, he worked in Punjabi films like Romeo Ranjha, Sirfire and Gun.
