So many universities of Pakistan were included in Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings.


47 universities of Pakistan have made it to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for 2025, which is an important achievement for the country’s higher education sector. Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad has ranked in the 401-500 range, which is at the top among Pakistani institutions.

Many universities are also listed between 601 and 800.

Several other universities, including Air University Islamabad, Capital University of Science and Technology, COMSATS University Islamabad, Government College University Faisalabad, National University of Sciences and Technology Islamabad, Sukor IBA University, University of Engineering and Technology Taxila, and University of Malakand Dir Lower Are included, have been ranked between 601 to 800.

Other major universities like Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, International Islamic University Islamabad, Khawaja Farid University of Engineering and Information Technology Rahim Yar Khan, Lahore University of Management Sciences, PMAS Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi, Islamia University of Bahawalpur, University of Central Punjab Lahore, University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar, University of Gujarat, University of Lahore, University of Management and Technology Lahore, University of the Punjab Lahore and University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore are ranked between 801 and 1000. Additionally, 12 universities are ranked between 1001 to 1200, 8 institutions are ranked between 1201 to 1500, and 5 universities are ranked 1501+.

48 universities not found eligible

Another 48 institutions from Pakistan have been listed as “reporters”, meaning they applied by providing the required data but did not meet the eligibility criteria for the ranking. In such a situation, he has not been included in this list.

These universities of the world also got ranking

The 2025 Times Higher Education Rankings include more than 2,000 universities from 115 countries and territories. The University of Oxford has retained the top spot for the ninth consecutive year, supported by its links with industry and improvements in teaching. MIT has jumped to second place, while Stanford is now in sixth place.

China is close to joining the top 10, which reflects its growing global research impact. At the same time, Australia’s top five universities have seen a decline in ranking due to decline in international outlook and reputation. Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates made the top 200, reflecting the growing importance of emerging markets in global higher education.

The ranking is based on the new WUR 3.0 methodology, which evaluates institutions across five key areas including teaching, research environment, research quality, industry engagement and international outlook. This year’s rankings include 2,092 universities, including 185 new entrants, and are based on 472,694 data points from 2,860 institutions.
