Chinmoy Das Arrest Case: Ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina strongly condemned the arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das on treason charges, calling it “unjust” and demanded his immediate release.
Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Awami League President Bangabandhu, has issued a statement. The former Prime Minister said that a top leader of the Sanatan Dharma community has been unjustly arrested and he should be released immediately. A temple has been burnt in Chittagong. Earlier, mosques, dargahs, churches, monasteries and houses of the Ahmadiyya community were attacked, vandalized, looted and set on fire. Religious freedom and security of life and property should be ensured for people of all communities.
What did Sheikh Hasina say on the murder of the lawyer?
He said that a lawyer has been murdered in Chittagong, this murder is being strongly protested. The people involved in this murder should be found and punished as soon as possible. This incident has caused gross violation of human rights. A lawyer had gone to perform his professional duties and he was beaten to death by terrorists. Whoever they are, they should be punished.
Interim government class held
Sheikh Hasina said that if the Yunus government, which unconstitutionally usurped power, fails to punish these terrorists, then it will also have to face punishment for human rights violations. I appeal to the people of the country to unite against such terrorism and extremism. It is important to ensure safety of life and property of common people.
He further said that the present rulers seem to have failed in all areas. Failing to control essential liquid root, also failing to provide protection to human life. I strongly condemn these atrocities being committed directly and indirectly on the common people.
‘Atrocities continue in Bangladesh’
Sheikh Hasina said that following the killing of innumerable Awami League leaders and workers, students and members of law and order forces, harassment through attacks and arrests continues. I strongly condemn and oppose these anti-Nayaraj activities.
