Russia Recognise Taliban Government: A major decision of Russia, India’s most special friend, has made Pakistan consider all four. The Taliban government of Afghanistan said on Thursday (July 3, 2025) that Russia has officially become the first country to recognize its rule. The Taliban ambassadors are among the capitals of many other countries including China and Pakistan, but they have not officially recognized Islamic Emirates.

The announcement was made after a meeting held in Kabul between Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mundki and Russia’s Ambassador Dimitri Jhirnov in Afghanistan. Mukki said in a post on X that this courageous decision would be an example for others. Now when the process of recognition has started, Russia was ahead of everyone.

Taliban Foreign Ministry spokesman Zia Ahmed Takl told AFP that Russia is the first country to officially recognize Islamic Emirates. Moscow special representative for Afghanistan Jamir Kabulov told Russia’s state news agency Riya Novosti that the government has recognized the Taliban government.

Taliban’s relations with India have been slowly improving since 2021. Foreign Secretary Vikram Mistry met the Taliban leaders shortly before. The recognition of Russia will give the Taliban valid on the global stage and India will get opportunities to further strengthen the infrastructure in Afghanistan.
