Prithvi Shaw will represent Maharashtra in the upcoming 2025-26 domestic season after securing a no-objection certificate from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).
In a letter to the MCA, Shaw, 25, expressed gratitude for the opportunities he received and called the switch a step forward in his cricketing journey. “I have been presented with a promising opportunity to play under another State Association, which I believe will further contribute to my growth and development,” he wrote.
The move comes after a difficult phase in Shaw’s career. Once touted as a future star following a century on Test debut in 2018, he has struggled with injuries, poor fitness, and form. He was dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad last season for disciplinary reasons but played in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final on December 14, 2024 — his last outing for Mumbai — contributing to a title win against Madhya Pradesh.
