The clip quickly went viral on social media, sparking panic and speculation about a possible crime.

However, once the video came to the attention of the authorities, the Navi Mumbai police and the crime branch team sprang into action. Using the car’s number plate, they traced the vehicle to Ghatkopar within two hours.
To their surprise, officers found that the hand was part of a social media prank staged by three young men who were filming a promotional reel for a laptop shop, leading to the detention of the driver and three men for questioning.
According to police officials, one of them owns a laptop shop in Navi Mumbai’s Koparkhairne area and had planned the prank with others to promote his business.
During interrogation, the group admitted that the video was staged for social media content linked to laptop sales, although police did not explain how the stunt related to the promotion.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against the four individuals under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act, which deals with rash and dangerous driving.
