Tesla owners in the US are facing backlash following Elon Musk’s new role in the Trump administration. Musk was recently appointed as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), where he quickly made headlines by announcing major federal job cuts — a move he claimed would reduce government spending. The decision has sparked widespread criticism, with many Americans now directing their frustration toward Musk’s electric vehicle company.
In San Francisco, a group of unidentified individuals has taken things further, urging action against Tesla owners. According to a report by KRON, posters demanding immediate action were spotted attached to light poles and cars, warning people against driving vehicles made by the Texas-based manufacturer.
Some of those flyers featured a photo of Musk doing an infamous hand gesture which might seem quite similar to a “Nazi” statue. A text under the image reads, “Sell your swasticar…Don’t be carplicit.” Another poster said, “Tell your neighbours: Sell your Tesla.”
After the pictures of the flyers went viral on social media, a San Francisco-based Tesla driver told KRON, “I agree, I don’t like Elon and I don’t like what he’s doing—it’s horrible. I am personally not a fan of Elon Musk, and I understand why people are boycotting Tesla.”
Many social media users also shared their thoughts on the topic. An X user opined, “In order to sell the car, somebody has to buy it; so I don’t get this. Destroying them isn’t the answer either–supply and demand would make the price of new ones go up. Just don’t buy new ones, that’s the only thing that makes sense.”
Meanwhile, A Tesla owner said, “He (Elon Musk) has already got the money from those like me who bought one year ago. I’m not selling it now. I would never buy one again though.” “I love my Tesla,” added another individual.
Amid all of this, stickers of “Anti-Elon Tesla Club” have been spotted in many cars across the US. A company making such stickers claims to have sold nearly 50,000 units globally over the last two years.
