On the occasion of Mahashivaratri in Mahakumbh, royal bath, in pictures

Today is the last day of Mahakumbh. From Paush Purnima to Mahashivaratra, 65 crore devotees have taken a Sangam bath so far. There is a huge crowd of people in Prayagraj on the last royal bath of Mahakumbh.

In the last royal bath of Mahakumbh on Mahashivaratri in Prayagraj, the people of devotees gathered. By 6 o’clock, about 1.5 crore people have taken a dip of faith.

According to the religious belief, during the Kumbh Mela, the water of rivers like Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati, Godavari, Shipra etc. becomes pure as nectar. This is the reason that wherever Kumbh is held, those who take bath get virtue.

Kumbh, Ardh Kumbh and Purna Kumbh are organized in Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik and Ujjain. According to the legend, when Garun was carrying Amrit Kalash during the churning of the ocean, some boondi of Amrit fell to these places. This is the case that Kumbh is organized here amid a limited interval.

After Prayagraj, the next Kumbh Mela will be held in Nashik in 2027. After that, Simhastha will be organized in Ujjain in 2028.

Religious belief is that a person who takes bath in Mahakumbh gets rid of all sins of this birth as well as all sins of previous birth and gets salvation after death.
