FASTag Multiple Uses: Fastag is usually used to pay toll tax on toll plazas. However, now it will also be used for paying parking fees, filling traffic challans, insurance premium and EV charging. According to media reports, the aim of the government with about 11 crore fastags issued by banks is to make it more convenient so that Fastag can be used simultaneously in many different works so that the people of the country will benefit.
Easy to manage transport and mobility service
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and NHAI on Wednesday organized a workshop with big officials of Finance Ministry and Fintech firms regarding this upgradation of Fastag.
The purpose of this workshop was to find new ideas regarding the use of Fastag and to know their opinion from Fintech firms. During this time, it was discussed that Fastag can be used in which other work other than toll plazas.
Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari says that with the cooperation of Fintech and other stakeholders, the government aims to develop the usefulness of Fastag as a strong platform that increases the facility of users, it is also easy to manage transport and mobility service.

Apart from this, according to the Economic Times report, the ‘Multi Lane Free Flow’ (MLFF) tolling system was also discussed in the meeting. This is on a system in which toll tax is paid without stopping the trains on the toll plaza. With this, along with the toll collection being better, the problem of jamming on the toll plaza will also be relieved.
