People often visit Thailand to explore its beautiful islands and beaches. But a solo traveller’s ferry experience in Thailand is now making waves online after she shared a video that has racked up over 7 crore views. Many viewers are calling her a ‘daredevil’.
The video was shared by a solo traveller named Gabby, who goes by the handle @vidacongabbi on Instagram. She boarded an overnight ferry from Koh Tao to Surat Thani, expecting a bunk bed as her friends had told her. However, the reality was far from it.
A Risky Journey On The Open Sea
Instead of a bed, Gabby was sent to sleep on the upper deck of the ferry. There were no walls – just an open railing and a thin cushion laid out on the floor. The sea was directly visible below the railings. In her video, Gabby showed passengers lying side by side on the open deck, with nothing but a cushion separating them from the hard floor and the open ocean.
Gabby described the eight-hour journey as far from comfortable, but added, “To be honest, it was one of those moments that feels chaotic at the time, but later becomes a memory you laugh about.” She said the experience, although terrifying, gave her a story to tell for life.
Internet Reacts With Shock
Despite how unsafe the ride looked, Gabby claimed she slept through 80% of the journey. The video sparked a flood of reactions. One user commented, “If it were me, I’d have a panic attack.” Another recalled, “I took the same route 15 years ago – mattresses on the floor and an open toilet.”
Many were curious about the bathroom situation. Gabby replied, “I didn’t move from my spot once. Trust me, you don’t want to see the bathroom.”
