Know what is new decree about RBI’s 100 and 200 rupee note, stir in banks

RBI On ATM Dispense: A big decree has been issued by the Reserve Bank of India regarding Rs 100 and Rs 200 to all banks. Because of this, there is a situation like a stir in the banks. The banking regulator said in its circular issued about both notes that their order should be considered as soon as possible and it should be implemented. Now let us tell you what RBI has said in its order given to banks.

In the circular issued on Monday, the RBI asked all the banks of the country to ensure that 100 rupees and 200 rupee notes also come out of the ATM, so that their availability remains in the market. Banks and white label ATM operators (WLAOS) have been asked to implement this order of RBI in a phased manner.

Significantly, the ATM operated by non-banking institutions is called white label ATM. The RBI has further stated in its circular that by September 30, 2025, in the country’s 75 percent ATM, at least one cassette, 100 rupees or 200 rupee notes will have to be withdrawn and the bank will have to ensure it. After this, by 31 March, 2026, 90 percent of the country’s ATM should be removed from one cassette or Rs 200 note.

The central bank said that it is necessary to do so to increase the availability of these notes for the public. Banks and white label ATM operators (WLAAO) will have to implement this instruction in a phased manner. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) said in a circular, “It has been decided to increase public reach to the bank’s bank note, that all banks and white label ATM operators (WLAAOs) will ensure that Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes are also released from their ATMs on regular basis.”
