Jitiya 2025 vrat katha: The fast of Jitia holds special significance for mothers. Mothers worship Jitiya Mata and Jemutavahana during Jitiya fast. Religious belief is that this fast started at the end of Dwapara era and early Kali Yuga. It is also believed that the Jeevaputrika Vrat was started by the Jemutavahana deity. When the mothers began to worry about the fact that if the life of their children in Kali Yuga will be in crisis, then who will protect them. To solve this concern, women reached Gautam Rishi. According to the legend, once Jemutavahana was traveling on the Gandhamadan mountain, then there was a sound of a woman’s cry in his ears. The woman was crying in the disconnection of her son (Shankhchud Nag), whose son was about to take Garuda. Jemutavahana told the woman that, you worry, I will present myself in front of Garuda and become her diet and protect your son.

When Garuda came to take Shankchud, Jemutavahana himself sat down as Shankhchud and took Garuda to take Jemutavahana. But after going some distance, Garuda realized that it is not a conch shell. Garuda asked who you are and why came to get my food. Then Jemutavahana said that, I saw Shankchud’s mother crying in son disconnection, I decided to become your diet only to save her. Pleased with the tolerance and benevolence of Jemutavahana, Garuda left him.

Due to Jemutavahana, Shankchud’s mother received his son. It is said that on the day this incident happened, the Ashtami date of Ashwin Krishna Paksha was on that day. After this incident, the law of worship of Jitiya Vrat and Jimutavahana also started. Therefore, every year mothers keep a fast on this day and worship Jeemutwah. It is said that the way Jemutavahana protected Shankchud’s life and saved his mother from son disconnection, in the same way they protect the life of the children of all the mothers.
