IPL: Kolkata Knight Riders and coach Chandrakant Pandit part ways

Chandrakant Pandit has parted ways with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in a bid to ‘explore new opportunities’, the team announced on Tuesday.

Pandit was appointed as the head coach of KKR in 2022 when he guided Madhya Pradesh to its maiden Ranji Trophy title. He was with the team for the last three seasons including the 2024 title-winning campaign.

Announcing the decision on social media, KKR wrote: “We are thankful for his invaluable contributions – including leading KKR to the IPL championship in 2024 and helping build a strong, resilient squad.”

“His leadership and discipline have left a lasting impact on the team,” the post concluded.

KKR had a below par season in 2025 where the team finished eighth winning only five games out of 14.
