Gold only gold: RBI bought countless gold in 2024, became the world’s second largest buyer of gold.


RBI Gold Reserve: India’s central bank Reserve Bank of India has purchased eight tonnes of gold in November and thus continues to increase its gold reserves in the year 2024. Overall, RBI has purchased 73 tonnes of gold from January 2024 to November 2024. In this way RBI has moved to second place in the world in terms of purchasing gold. In this series, RBI’s total gold holdings are expected to increase to 876 tonnes by November 2024.

Know which countries are ahead in terms of gold reserves in the world-

National Bank of Poland (NBP) ranks first in terms of gold reserves worldwide. According to the World Gold Council, the National Bank of Poland (NBP) purchased 21 tonnes of gold in November, after which its total gold purchase during January-November has become 90 tonnes. Also, its total reserves will remain at 448 tonnes, which is 18 percent of its total reserves.

China’s bank started buying gold again

The People’s Bank of China has resumed purchasing of gold after six months and has added 6 tonnes to its reserves. Till November, it purchased a total of 34 tonnes of gold, after which its total gold reserve has increased to 2264 tonnes and this is about 5 percent of China’s total reserve.

Gold reserves of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan

Central Bank of Uzbekistan also purchased gold after 3 months and under this it has purchased 9 tons of gold in November 2024. In this way, its total gold purchases by November 2024 have gone up to 11 tonnes and its total holdings are 382 tonnes.

National Bank of Kazakhstan’s gold purchases

National Bank of Kazakhstan purchased 5 tonnes of gold in November and after this the total holdings of this country have increased to 295 tonnes. If we look at other banks, the Central Bank of Turkey has purchased 3 tons of gold and the Czech National Bank (central bank of the Czech Republic) has purchased 2 tons of gold.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore sold gold in November and reduced its gold reserves by 5 tonnes. By November 2024, this country has sold a total of 7 tonnes of gold and their total gold reserves have come down to 223 tonnes.
