After the Canadian national’s footage, posted on X, started spreading like wildfire, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) launched an intensive cleaning drive around Bengaluru’s Majestic area to improve the footpaths. GBA’s official X-handle uploaded a series of pictures showcasing that operations were being conducted to clean pedestrian walkways and repair damaged roads, ensuring litter-free streets and safer walking spaces.

A person said, “So basically we need to fly in more foreigners to point out your inability to do your job before you get it done.” Another added, “So good to see this. Entire city needs this – go for intensive cleaning every month and involve citizens. If the government does it regularly, subtly citizens will join hands.” Someone also noted, “Whiteman complains and BBMP’s ego hurts. They repair it quickly. Lakhs of its citizens cry for basic roads/infrastructure/footpath but it falls on deaf ears. What a country we live in!”
The swift move comes days after the Canada-based individual documented his difficult 2.4 km walk from the Majestic bus stand to a Starbucks outlet on footpaths. The video pointed out everyday hazards faced by pedestrians, including stretches of roads blocked by barbed wire, piled up garbage, broken pavements with potholes, and stairwells descending directly into open drains.
The person described his experience as “a nice little walk, if you can actually use the footpaths.” His dry humour with serious civic commentary resonated with several Bengaluru citizens, and no wonder the video whipped up an online storm.

Canadian Resident Reacts To Intensive Cleaning Drive
After the roads were cleared, the Canadian posted “before and after” images of the same stretch on X, thanking the GBA. “Thank you for listening and taking rapid action, GBA. No more parkour over barbed wire required by pedestrians,” he wrote.
The internet reacted to the changes made. “Thanks to the vlogger. God bless him,” commented one user. Another requested, “the government, to clean the entire Bengaluru, especially the garbage issues.”
