Bashar al-Assad broke his silence after the coup, said – ‘Syria is in the hands of terrorists’


After the coup in Syria, a big statement from Bashar al-Assad has come out. Assad claimed in his statement issued from Russia that Syria is now "is in the hands of terrorism"He described leaving Damascus as a necessary strategic measure, as the capital had been captured by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allied groups. Bashar al-Assad said that at no time had he thought about abdicating or seeking refuge, saying that the only solution for him was to continue the fight against terrorist attacks.

Fleeing Syria In his first statement, Bashar al-Assad said that he had no intention of leaving the country after the fall of Damascus, but after the attack on his base in western Syria, Russian forces evacuated him from there. Assad said in a statement on his Facebook page that he left Damascus on the morning of December 8, after rebels attacked the capital.

Assad said in a written statement from Russia. "First of all, my departure from Syria was neither planned nor did it occur during the last hours of the fighting, as some have claimed, on the contrary, I remained in Damascus, carrying out my duties until the morning of Sunday 8 December 2024. kept following,"

They said they left in coordination with Russian allies for a Russian base in the coastal province of Latakia, where they planned to continue fighting. Assad said, "When terrorist forces infiltrated into Damascus, I went to Latakia, in coordination with my Russian colleagues, to oversee combat operations. On reaching Hmeimim airbase that morning, it became clear that our forces had completely withdrawn from all battle lines and the last army positions had also fallen."
