Antioch High School shooting: Student opens fire on two pupils, then turns gun to himself | World News – The Times of India


Antioch High School was placed under lockdown after a shooting incident took place Wednesday.

A student shot two other pupils in a Tennesse high school cafeteria shootout before turning the gun to himself inside the cafeteria. Antioch High School where the incident took place was immediately placed on lockdown because of the sudden shooting. “The person responsible for the shooting is no longer a threat” the Metro schools district in Nashville said alerting the parents. Police said three people have been wounded, including the suspect who shot himself.

Two students are dead, and two others were injured after a shooting at Antioch High School in Tennessee on Wednesday morning, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD). Police Chief John Drake said in a press conference Wednesday afternoon that the target was a 16-year-old Hispanic student. She is deceased. Drake said it is unknown if the shooting was “targeted or if it was intended for multiple people.”
Antioch High School is home to approximately 2,000 students in grades 9 through 12, according to its website. The school is located Nashville’s Antioch neighborhood, about 10 miles southeast of downtown.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tennessee Homeland Security and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives have said they also are responding.
