
Zimbabwe cricketer Sikandar Raza has filed a complaint against local coach Blessing Mafuwa over alleged racial abuse during a domestic match.
The incident reportedly occurred on June 1 during a game between Old Hararians and Rainbow Cricket Club at the Old Hararians Sports Club.
According to reportsMafuwa has been placed under interim suspension pending a disciplinary hearing.
“We received a report of racial abuse that our T20 captain (Raza) suffered last week. We are in the process of investigating. Blessing Mafuwa will attend a hearing this coming Tuesday. He will answer charges from the report. In the interim, he is suspended from all activities in the HMCA,” said Harare Metropolitan Cricket Association chairperson Tafadzwa Madoro.
Raza, who captains Old Hararians, made a strong impact in the match. He scored a commanding 78 off 56 balls, leading his side to a dominant total of 402 for 9 in 50 overs. Rainbow Cricket Club responded with 225 for 8 in 39 overs before rain stopped play. Old Hararians were declared winners by 142 runs via the DLS method.
Just weeks earlier, Raza had flown in from England and arrived only 10 minutes before the toss to lead Lahore Qalandars to its third Pakistan Super League title in four years.
