A resident of Pacific Palisades was filled with joy and happiness after he was able to reunite with his beloved pet dog Oreo.
The dog and the man reunited five days after they were separated in the devastating wildfires.
Along with many others, Casey Colvin’s home was also engulfed in the blaze. After bearing such a massive loss, the man was desperately looking for his dog who he feared was dead.
The joyful reunion was captured in a video which has now gone viral. In the heartwarming clip, Oreo is seen running into the arms of Colvin as the two are crying happily.
In the video, Colvin can be heard exclaiming “Oh my God! You’re alive!”
How Did The Man Find His Dog Oreo?
The man was searching for his dog Oreo when it caught the attention of NBC News correspondent Liz Kreutz who shared his story with her viewers.
After days, someone reported that they had spotted the dog amid the rubble, hearing that Casey rushed to the spot.
The search came to an end on January 12 when Colvin was reunited with Oreo with the help of a professional dog trapper.
Kreutz then shared the tear-jerking video and wrote in the caption, “OREO HAS BEEN FOUND!!!”
She said that the moment was “an incredible bright spot in such a devastating time.”
While reporting about the incident, the reporter said that Colvin was not at home when the order of wildfire evacuation was issued. His two dogs, Oreo and Tika Tika Tika, were trapped inside the home.
“I met Casey Colvin the very first day of the fire. He was in distress trying to get back to his home in the Palisades to get his two dogs, Oreo and Tika Tika Tika,” said Kreutz.
Hearing the plea, a firefighter took the heroic decision of going to his home to save the dog. However, he was only able to find Tika Tika Tika because Oreo had escaped.
“Had that firefighter not intervened, both dogs would have been trapped when the flames arrived,” said NBC News correspondent Liz Kreutz.
A friend of Colvin later spotted Oreo in the neighbourhood after which the dog was found using AirTag to track his movements.
“We rushed to his street where Oreo was hiding in his neighbour’s home. The moment he saw Casey he came running,” said Kreutz.
