A video of a man assaulting a purported ‘pet’ lion that tried to attack another man in a cage is causing a stir on social media and a backlash. Mian Azhar, a Pakistani content creator who often posts videos of himself interacting with tigers, lions and other reptiles, posted the now-viral reel video. In the video, Azhar frantically tries to release the victim by striking the lion with a stick as it clutches his limbs. The man yells, “Kaat liya isney, kaat liya!” many times in terror meaning – It bit me.. it bit me.
The video opens with Azhar and his friend standing in front of a lion inside a cage. Within a split second, the lion attacks Azhar’s friend’s leg. The man screams in pain and fear, “It has bitten me” (multiple times). Azhar continues to strike the lion with a tiny stick to help his friend. After a while, the lion leaves him and they both breathe a sigh of relief. Despite the man’s anxiety, Azhar continues to soothe his friend at the end of the video.

A user said, “You must be reported to avoid a tragedy since this animal can cause death to anyone. You must also be reported for animal abuse.”
Another commented, “First you cage him, then, poke and irritate him. Then, when it retaliates, you act victim and torture him. May you get karma someday.”
“Wild animals should not be like pets. It’s a crime and cruelty. Please respect and give them fair freedom. If you (human) are treated in the same way… how do you feel,” a user on Instagram said.
“Please don’t be so cruel to poor animals. He Belongs to free wildlife, don’t be a horrible human,” another remarked.
Nouman Hassan, another content creator from Pakistan, caused a stir in May when he posted a video of a cheetah striking a guy who attempted to pet it. Hassan was seen sitting on a sofa with the cheetah and another man in the widely shared video.
The large cat growled at him and swatted him the instant he attempted to pet it.
