2. Mallikarjuna Jyotirling, Andhra Pradesh

This Jyotirlinga is the second of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. It is believed that Shiva-Parvati comes here to meet her son Karthikeya. This is the only Jyotirlinga, where Shiva ji is seated in Jyoti form along with Mata Parvati.

3. Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, Madhya Pradesh

This Jyotirlinga is the third of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. It is the only Dakshinamukhi Shivling.

8. Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga, Maharashtra

10. Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, Gujarat

It is believed that Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati appeared here as serpents. For this reason, Nageshwar Jyotirlinga is named. It is believed that Lord Shiva killed a demon named Daruk in this region.

11. Rameswaram Jyotirlinga, Tamil Nadu

After the slaughter of Ravana, Lord Shri Ram stayed in the south and worshiped Shivalinga with sand here. Later this Shivling became stronger like Vraj. Sri Ram made it, hence its name was Rameswaram.

12. Gharshneshwar Jyotirling, Maharashtra

Sudeha, wife of a Brahmin named Sudharma, had no children. She got her husband married to his younger sister Ghushma. Shortly after marriage, he received a son. Sudeha started burning with sister’s son and murdered him. On knowing this, Ghushma Bhagwana started worshiping Shiva. Pleased with this, Shiva appeared and made his son alive. Ghushma prayed to Shiva, that he should sit here. Lord Shiva obeyed him and sat here as Jyotirlinga.
