Yoga: We often hear the advice to do yoga in the morning, but have you ever thought that why should the stomach be empty during yoga? Experts believe that when we do yoga on an empty stomach, it affects both the body and the mind deeply. This not only brings freshness and agility in the body, but the mind also becomes calm and concentrated. Overall, the real benefit of yoga is available only when the stomach is light and the body is ready.
Yoga trainer Kavita Arora says that when we do yoga after eating, there is unwanted pressure on the body. Especially there is more stretch on the stomach, due to which the food can come back upwards and there may be problems like indigestion, gas, acidity or sour belching.
After eating food, most of the body’s energy is engaged in digestion. In such a situation, if we start doing yoga, then neither the food is digested properly nor the benefit of yoga is available. The upside down body starts feeling tired and heavy. The quality of yoga is also affected by this.
Decrease in flexibility and concentration
When we eat food, the energy of the body is engaged in digestion, which can reduce flexibility and concentration while doing yoga. But by doing yoga on an empty stomach, the whole energy is engaged in rugs and pranayama, due to which blood circulation is good and the body gets plenty of oxygen.
Scientists also believe the benefits of yoga on an empty stomach
Science also believes that doing yoga on an empty stomach is more beneficial. After eating food, the blood flow of the body moves towards the digestive organs, but while doing yoga, different parts of the body need oxygen and energy. In such a situation, the effect of yoga decreases.
When to do yoga? Know the right time
Experts say that yoga should not be done immediately after eating food, but except Vajrasana. It is beneficial for digestion for 5 to 10 minutes after meals. The difference of at least 3 to 3 and a half hours is necessary for the rest of the yogasanas. For example, if you have eaten food at 2 pm, it would be right to do yoga at 5 or 5:30 pm. This will not affect digestion nor will the benefits of yoga decrease.
