Women are running away from jobs with good salary and high position! Shocking thing happened in research

Women on workplace: Despite having qualifications, women hesitate to apply for posts which have higher salary or which demand more experience, because they feel that they are not eligible for it. This was revealed in a research by Katherine Kaufman, Associate Professor at Harvard Business School.

During her research, Catherine interviewed Donna Strickland of Canada, who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2018. He had asked Donna, why did she not become a professor despite having so much knowledge and so much experience? In response, Donna said that she never applied.

Women apply on 100% eligibility

Katherine shared her research with the quote that men apply for jobs when they meet 60 percent of the eligibility criteria, while women apply when they are 100 percent eligible. This was first mentioned by two friends, William Redington Hewlett and David Packard, who founded the big IT company HP. Research is still going on on this.

Women do not feel confident in the workplace

Generally women do not feel confident in their workplace. Research has also revealed that if there is a sector where men dominate, such as any field related to management or analytics, then women generally do not apply in it. Women apply only when they are well aware of their job role.

Women apply for low paying jobs

Women apply more for lower paying jobs than men, even if both are equal in terms of qualifications. In 2022, a research titled “Words Matter: Gender, Jobs and Applicant Behavior” was conducted, in which a job advertisement and the applications received on it were closely examined. Examining 6.45 million applications for 1,57,888 posted jobs, researchers found that women applied for 3.7 percent less-paid jobs than men, despite factors such as age, education, city, or state. Even if both have only one.

Due to this also the difference is seen

Many times the difference is seen when a particular thing is demanded for the job. For example, if there is mention of restarting one’s career or work from home in any job, then women apply more for it. Whereas if your job demands night shifts or a lot of travelling, then men show more interest in it than women. In most of the jobs, the number of men is more in those jobs which require field work.
