In what can be described as an employee’s worst nightmare, a woman accidentally sent a ranting message about her boss in the office group chat. What happened next was a complete silence at the beginning, and then an email and a meeting with HR. The employee shared a post on Instagram, detailing how the blunder unfolded over an innocent screenshot, which she meant for a friend but ended up sending to the office group.
According to the video, the employee’s friend from another team asked about her new manager, to which the woman sent a screenshot of her conversation from the office chat. “The manager had written one of his lines that he uses. ‘Let’s circle back and align cross-functionally,” the woman quoted the manager, further writing that she didn’t understand what he said.
“I sent it to the office group, with the manager, the manager’s manager, the team, and HR. There was a silence. Not even an emoji from the one who laughs all the time. I wanted to throw my phone away, my job, and my soul in the trash,” she continued.
In a follow-up video, the employee revealed how things started changing after the particular incident. Her manager, who previously used to talk to her casually, became very formal and even stopped using her name in the office. “So yeah. He didn’t fight with me, didn’t block me. He just upgraded to a fully aggressive mode, and I have accepted it. I drink my chai, check my code, and double-check everything before sending it to the group. Because in this company, you have to debug the code and also the conversations,” she said at the end of the video.
The videos sparked a lot of reactions on the platform, with many sharing divided views in the comment section. One wrote, “After hearing the messages of the manager, I think he just began professionally,” while another added, “Imagine the manager seeing all the 3-part reel.”
“If I were your manager, I would say, ‘Oh, sorry,’ then explain in detail, and please let me know if you have any doubts. Haha. The fact he forwarded this as an error—search for a new job ASAP,” a comment read.
Many of the woman’s followers appeared intrigued by the narrative, asking her to share the sequence of events at the earliest.
