In today’s world, many people prioritise their own comfort, often at the expense of others. A striking example emerged recently when a video went viral showing a young girl pulling a train’s emergency brake chain just to get off at her station. The act caused unnecessary panic among fellow passengers and delayed the train.

It’s important to note that pulling a train’s alarm chain without a valid reason is a crime under Section 141 of the Indian Railways Act, 1989. Such an offence is punishable by a fine, imprisonment, or both.

Woman Pulls Train’s Emergency Chain

The video shared on Instagram captures a crowded Indian Railways train, seemingly from the General compartment. In the clip, a young woman is seen standing on a seat and pulling the emergency brake chain as the train approaches her destination.

Once the train slows down, she gets down from the seat and heads towards the gate to disembark, seemingly unconcerned about the chaos and inconvenience caused to fellow passengers.

How Did Social Media React?

The girl’s reckless behaviour grabbed the viewer’s attention, prompting strong reactions from them. Many demanded strict action against her.

An Instagram user commented, “I hope she is facing the charges.” Another one wrote, “Is she arrested or fined???”

One of them said, “Arrest her immediately.”

“Normal day in India,” wrote a user. A person commented, “I think she is the only girl around the boys, it could be a reason.” “Civic sense day by day,” another commented.

A person wrote, “Maybe she felt unsafe with all those men, or maybe with one particular.”

Someone said, “Why aren’t other people stopping her instead of making a video?”

“People insulting her, you don’t even know if she was being harassed and was trying to avoid further harassment,” wrote one person. Another comment reads, “The fact that she’s smiling afterwards.”

A user wrote, “Good for her. I see she’s surrounded by a bunch of males.” “It’s HER station, so she can decide if the train must stop or not. She is the owner of the station!!!” a person wrote sarcastically.

Earlier, a man was booked by Indian Railways for pulling the emergency brakes on the Rajdhani Express, travelling from Nashik to Mathura, so his friend could get off the train.
