A Beat Forest officer, Roshni G S, rescued a massive king cobra in Kerala. A video of her brave act is now capturing massive attention on the Internet. Shared by an X user, the clip shows the officer in uniform fearlessly handling the reptile using a snake-catching stick near a shallow stream.

The incident is said to be from the Peppara forest range in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, where she is currently posted as a member of the rapid response team.

In the clip, the officer deals with the situation with utmost calm while also maneuvering the snake with the stick. “Kerala—Thiruvananthapuram: Scene of a king cobra, lurking in a stream near a residential area, being skillfully captured by Roshni, a female officer from the Paruthippalli Range Forest Division,” the video’s caption read.

The rescue took place in a rural residential area when the locals spotted the reptile while bathing in a stream.

The forest department was instantly informed, prompting Roshni’s quick arrival on the spot. She took only a few minutes to bag the 14-15 feet long cobra. Her effort has received widespread praise from the online community. Roshni also shared the video on her official Instagram handle, drawing even more appreciation.

As a member of the Rapid Response Team (RRT), under the Paruthippally forest range, Roshni G S has rescued more than 500 snakes, both venomous and nonvenomous. Her efforts also extend to other animals like porcupines, civet cats, and deer. While her first rescue was also a panthon, she joined the RRT in 2021.

Speaking to Onmanorama, she said, “Pythons exert severe pressure to escape, which demands a lot of physical effort and often leaves my body in pain.”

All rescue operations aren’t as easy as they appear, as Roshni often deals with challenges that many might find unbearable.

Despite the hardships, Roshni GS continues to approach the rescues with compassion and professionalism, using the traditional bag and pipe method as she ensures minimal harm to the snake.
