Going through security checks is a common phenomenon across every airport for safety reasons. While such security checks help to prevent the entry of prohibited items and smuggling, simply protecting against any conventional crimes, have you ever imagined getting arrested for carrying a bag with the message “Definitely Not a Bag Full of Drugs?” One such incident recently took place after a Florida woman was arrested for possessing drugs in her bag that carried the ironic message.
Teryn Acri was booked into the Brevard County jail in connection to several charges including trafficking and possession with intent to sell, stated a report from Fox 35 Orlando. Acri’s legal troubles came just days after she was released from jail for similar charges. The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office took to Facebook and shared a detailed account of the entire incident.
According to the post, a K9 unit dog detected something amiss in the few bags belonging to the woman that were inside a vehicle. While the driver willingly let the deputy search the cars believing that nothing illegal should have been in sight, especially with one such ‘quoted’ bag aboard, he was left shocked after the cops found the woman’s bag loaded with illegal contraband.
“Well unfortunately for him, this is the part you just can’t make up, as Acri had had a few bags with her and one of them had the words “Definitely Not A Bag Full Of Drugs” printed on it!!” the post read. Among the items found inside her van included “methamphetamine, needles, Narcan, digital scales, small baggies, cut straws and other items associated with drugs,” following which Acri was arrested and charged with trafficking in meth, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The latest charges are somewhat identical to the ones that she faced earlier this month. Previously, she was arrested on January 6 and was released two days later with a $15,500 bond. A bond is not yet to be made while she remains behind bars.
On the other hand, a similar case has been reported from Auckland airport where a US woman was arrested by customs for carrying 31kg of methamphetamine in her luggage. After arriving from San Francisco, she went through the security check when the customs officers found the Class A drugs in vacuum-sealed plastic packages, stuffed amongst new clothing.
