Donald Trump Hush Money Case: The Supreme Court has rejected Donald Trump’s appeal to postpone his sentence in the hush money case. This decision has further increased Trump’s legal problems. Trump has been convicted of giving $1.3 lakh to porn star Stormy Daniels. The Supreme Court bench has rejected Trump’s appeal and allowed Judge Juan M Marchen to pronounce the sentence on Friday.
In the hush money case, Donald Trump is accused of trying to give hush money to Stormy Daniels in 2006 to hide her relationship. Trump has denied these allegations. New York courts found Trump guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records, which relate to his personal affairs and not the President’s official duties.
Judge Marchen’s reaction to the decision
Judge Juan M Marchen, who is hearing the money hush case, had already told that Trump will be sentenced, but he will not pay it. Nor will they be fined. However, meanwhile, Trump’s lawyers have termed the punishment as politically motivated and wrong. He said that because of this matter the process of becoming President can be hindered. Trump’s lawyer D. John Sawyer argued in the court that the sentence should be postponed until Trump’s appeal is heard, so that he does not face any problems during the process of becoming President.
Supreme Court decision
The Supreme Court rejected Trump’s argument and said that the virtual hearing will not cause any disruption in Trump’s transition. The court said that the cases against Trump have nothing to do with his presidency, so it is right to convict him for his personal actions.
