Donald Trump New Tariff: US President Donald Trump has announced to impose 25 percent on goods imported from India from India, which is going to be implemented from 1 August. This is likely to affect the industry like pharmaceuticals and textiles.
However, there is also an industry that has survived from the US tariff for the time being. Here the electronic industry of the country is being talked about. That is, even after August 1, exports of products like smartphones, laptops and servers from India will continue to be done without 25 percent tariffs.
Why is the tariff not being imposed on electronics product?
In fact, the US is continuing its investigation under Section 232 of the impact of these products on national security. Until the investigation is completed, the import of smartphones, laptops and servers will continue without any tax.
Explain that under Section 232 of the Trade Extension Act 1962 in the US, the President is empowered to stop the import of products which are found to be endangered by national security. Currently, due to zero tariff treatment, the status of India’s electronics expoters in the US markets remains strong.
Apart from China, these countries are also relieved
In this episode, China is also standing shoulder to shoulder with India as China has also been kept out of the purview of electronics tariffs. However, India is still ahead of China in this matter because some products of China are already imposed ‘Fantanil Duty’.
However, the US is also charging zero tariffs on electronics products from Taiwan and Vietnam. In June 2025, India emerged as the biggest exporter of smartphones for America. India’s stake in the import of this segment alone was 44 percent. In this case, India also left behind China and Vietnam.
