An AI-generated video is making waves online for turning Mira Road’s pothole problem in Mumbai into a space-themed joke. Shared on Instagram, the video uses satire to show just how bad the roads are.
The footage shows a scene where a group of NASA scientists visit the Mira Road-Bhayandar not for a space mission but to test the Mars Rover on the area’s crater-like roads. During the interaction, a reporter asks, “Why have you come here?” The scientists reply, “Hume pata chala ki Mira Road mein Mars jaisi sadak hai, isiliye Mars Rover ki testing hum yahi karenge (We have come to know that Mira Road has Mars-like roads, so we have come to test the Mars Rover).”
What follows is a sequence showing AI-generated scientists inspecting potholes with complete seriousness. They use tape measures to take readings.
The post’s caption reads, “NASA and Tesla will now open offices in Mira Road!”
Potholes Overflowing And So Are Comments
Since being shared online, the video has crossed three lakh views. And just like the potholes in the video are filled with water, the comment section is flooded with varied reactions.
One user joked, “Ghodbunder Road jao waha toh Jupiter milega (Go to Ghodbunder Road, you will find Jupiter there).”
Another added, “Come to Thane, it feels like the south side of the moon.”
“Water Kingdom wale bhi contractor ko dhund rahe hai how to make swimming pool in low budget ki expertise lene k liye (Even Water Kingdom is looking for this contractor to learn how to make a swimming pool on a low budget),” a viewer wrote sarcastically.
“It seems mira bhayandar is inside a pothole not potholes inside mira bhayandar,” someone else said.
Ye Potholes nahi hai, ye ufos ke liye launchpads hai (these are not potholes, they are launchpads for ufos), “Read Another Funny Comment.
A person pointed out, “You guys are doing a commendable job by raising the concerns of common Mira Bhayandar people. I hope this reaches the ears and eyes of higher authorities.”
Pothole QuickFix
The pothole problem isn’t new but now there is a tech-based way to report it. On June 9, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) launched a mobile app called Pothole QuickFix. It is available on Android and iOS and is designed to make pothole complaints easy to submit.
With just a few taps, users can click a photo, tag the location, add a short description and send it. There is also a WhatsApp chatbot at 8999228999 for the same purpose.
Once filed, the complaint goes to the concerned department. Users can then track its status, see estimated repair times and give feedback. If needed, the complaint can also be reopened.
