
John Ratcliffe: The person who was nominated by President Donald Trump for the post of CIA director has been approved by the Senate. This man is John Ratcliffe. Immediately after winning the US presidential elections, Trump had announced the appointment of Ratcliffe as CIA director. Now when voting took place in this regard in the Senate, 74 votes came in favor of Ratcliffe, while 25 senators voted against him.
Ratcliffe has held many senior positions in the past as well. During Trump’s previous presidential term, he was the Chief of National Intelligence. He has also been a part of the US Parliament. Now he will work as the director of the world’s number-1 intelligence agency (CIA). Let us tell you that he is one of the closest people to Donald Trump.

Who is John Ratcliffe?
Ratcliff is a graduate of Law School. Till 2004, he did private practice as a lawyer. Immediately after this, he was elected mayor of ‘Heath’, a city in the American state of Texas. He was the Mayor of Heath from 2004 to 2012. Meanwhile, between May 2007 and April 2008, he also served as the US Attorney for the ‘Eastern District of Texas’.
In 2014, Ratcliffe was elected to the US Parliament ‘House of Representatives’. He remained its member till the year 2020. Meanwhile, on July 28, 2019, then President Donald Trump expressed his desire to make him the next National Intelligence Chief, however, Trump could not do so due to opposition from Ratcliffe among Republican senators. A few months later, Trump again nominated him for this post. On 26 May 2020, he took oath as Director of National Intelligence. He could serve on this post only for 8 months. With Joe Biden becoming the next President, Avril Haynes was appointed Director of National Intelligence in his place.
