In a shocking incident, the mother of a one-year-old boy walked into her living room to find the toddler accidentally eating his grandfather’s ashes, leaving her “mortified”. Natashy Emeny, from the UK’s Lincoln area, had only stepped away from her room for a moment when this happened.
The toddler, named Koah, was innocently strolling across the living room with ash smeared across his face, clothes and the sofa. He had somehow managed to reach the top shelf, where the burial urn was kept.
Emeny said that she caught her child red-handed eating the remains of his grandfather and filmed her son’s innocent response and posted it on TikTok, which amused several netizens online, according to The Daily Mail.
“Oh my God. When your son eats your dad,” she wrote in the clip. Emeny clarified that her son had munched through his grandfather’s remains, showing her son wandering around the living room in a t-shirt covered with ashes.
“I was taking some washing upstairs, literally for a couple of minutes. I come back down to him covered in ashes. It took me a moment to realise it was, in fact, my dad’s ashes,” she said in the video. “I was mortified. I’m still trying to process it!” she said.
The mother, who was “mortified” at first after witnessing the act, later said her father had a great sense of humour and would have found it hilarious. “He never met him, but now they are always together!” she said.
Some people online thought it was part of an April Fool’s Day joke. While some viewers were concerned over the situation, others came up with hilarious responses like, “Grandad for brekky” and “I don’t think this is how reincarnation is supposed to work”.
“Well, now you can also say to him when he’s older, ‘I can see a lot of your grandfather in you!” a user wrote. The mother later confirmed that her son is “absolutely fine” and did not consume too much ash.
