When Sanjay Dutt Rolled Out His Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano In Pure ‘Vaastav Swag’

Bollywood veteran Sanjay Dutt is known for his diverse set of roles on the big screen, but very few people must be aware of his great enthusiasm for automobiles. Dutt reportedly owns a collection of high-end luxury cars in his auto assets, including Ferrari F430, Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, W220 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi S8 V10, Audi R8 V8 and the Rolls-Royce Ghost.

An account on Instagram recalled the time when Dutt unveiled his sleek-looking Ferrari 599 GTB and spoke of its details with great understanding and passion. “This is the only Ferrari that has a front engine; all Ferraris have a back engine,” said the actor in the clip. Dutt also claimed that the engine of his 599 GTB Fiorano is the same as that deployed by F1 racing star Michael Schumacher on the racing tracks.

The video is from 2012, when, during the filming of Ferrari Ki Sawaari. Director Rajesh Mapuskar and actor Sharman Joshi went to Dutt’s house for a trial of his Ferrari. While the director-actor duo was looking for a Ferrari 360 Modena, Dutt showed them his 599 GTB Fiorano and even took them for a ride. Ultimately, Mapushkar and Joshi found a second-hand version of 360 Modena, which legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar sold to a Surat businessman.

Dutt’s Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, whose production stopped in 2012, boasted multiple attractive features and was one of the biggest-selling cars of the brand. It would stand its ground firm against the likes of Aston Martin DB11, Lotus Emira, McLaren GT, Ferrari Roma, Ferrari Portofino, Mercedes-Benz AMG and GT 63 S E Performance, among other luxury cars.

Social media users were quick to drop comments. A person informed, “This was from the making of Ferrari ki Sawaari. Director Rajesh Mapuskar wanted a 360 Modena. The team went for a car hunt in all directions. This video is from the trials they took. Sanju Baba was ready to give his 599 GTB on rent. But Rajesh Mapuskar was firm on finding a 360 Modena. Finally they found a second hand 360 Modena sold by Sachin Tendulkar to a businessman in Surat- Jayesh Desai.”

Another said, “With Vastav look, in full mood of 4 bottles and gaali galoch, but is talking about imported cars so switched to English.”

Details Of The Car

Producing a maximum horsepower of 460 kW and 610 hp (620 PS) between 7,600 rpm and 8,400 rpm, the Ferrari 599 GTB was considered the most powerful production Ferrari road car in its heyday. At its peak, the 599 GTB’s 5999 cc petrol engine provided an output exceeding 75 kW and 100 PS (100 hp) per litre of displacement.

For automobile enthusiasts like Dutt, the Ferrari 599 GTB also offered 608 Nm / 448 lb-ft at 5600 rpm maximum torque, maximum speed of 330 km/hour, 0-100 acceleration in 3.7 seconds, a Bosch Motronic ME7 fuel system and a six-speed manual transmission gearbox. It had vented discs, front brakes of 398 mm inches and rear brakes measured at 360 mm. The car also came with a double wishbone and magnetorheological front and rear suspension.

The Ferrari 599 GTB had two variants – 599 GTB Fiorano Coupe (base model) and 599 GTB Fiorano GT (top model). While the base model had an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.39 crore, the top variant was available for purchase in India at Rs 3.57 crore.
