When Amitabh Bachchan played a Muslim character, these legends started regretting

There are some lyricists in Bollywood, who have brought the emotions directly to the hearts through words. Anand Bakshi was one of the same selected lyricists. He wrote more than 4,000 songs in his career of nearly 40 years.

The special thing about his songs was that he used to be in common language, in which emotions were clearly visible. Whether it is love, pain, friendship or patriotism, he wrote all kinds of feelings in very beautiful words.

But despite being so successful and experienced, there came a time when he regretted one of his songs. This story is associated with the 1983 film ‘Andha Law’. This was mentioned by his son Rakesh Anand Bakshi in his biography ‘Nagme Kahne Memans’.

Regret after knowing the character of Amitabh

In the book ‘Nagme Kahse Baat Yaadam’ told that the director told Bakshi Saheb the story of the film in the name of Amitabh Bachchan, but did not tell which religion the character of Big B belongs to.

Anand Bakshi wrote a song for this film, which became famous at that time. The few lines of this song ‘Learn to laugh and cry, laugh and cry, as much as the keeper Ram, as much as the toy’, even today people hum.

In this, the word ‘Ram’ has come in the form of Shri Ram, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. When Anand Bakshi came to know that Amitabh Bachchan was playing a Muslim character in the film, he regretted a lot. He told this to his son.

Referring to the story in the book, the son said that he said, “I had made a mistake that before writing the song, I did not ask the director’s name and his religion.”

The director was telling the story in the name of Amitabh Bachchan. If I had known that Amitabh is playing a Muslim character in the film, then I would write a song according to the character of that character and his religion.

Birth and beginning of career

Anand Bakshi was born on 21 July 1930 in Rawalpindi (which is now in Pakistan). After partition, his family came to India and settled in Lucknow. Since childhood, Anand had a deep attachment to words and songs.

He also joined the Navy to come to Mumbai, taking a desire to work in films. His real purpose was to come to Mumbai and make his name in films. He started his career by writing songs in the 1958 film ‘Bhala Aad Aad man’.

He received Rs 150 for four songs. After a lot of hard work, Anand got his real identity from the film ‘Jab Phool Khile’ released in 1965. For this film, he wrote the songs ‘Yeh Saman Saman Hai Ye Pyaar Ka’, ‘Pardesi Se Akhiyan Milan’, and ‘Ek Tha Gul and Ek Thi Bulbul’.

Decades

In the four decades of career, he ‘Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi’, ‘Letter no message’, ‘Chand Si Mehbooba Ho Meri’, ‘Jhilmil Stars’, ‘Month of Sawan Pawan Kare Kare Shor’, ‘I am out in the gardens’, ‘I am a poet to’, ‘I am not lying’, ‘lying bol hai kate’, ‘Kora Kara Paper was’, ‘I saw this mind,’ Write unique songs like ‘Ud Ja Kale Kawan’, ‘Tum Jo Auti Smiling’, ‘Roop Tera Mastana, Tip Tip Barsa Pani’, and ‘Ishq Bina Kya Jeena Yaaron’.

Anand Bakshi struggled a lot in his life, but never gave up. On 30 March 2002, he said goodbye to this world.
