Bihar’s renowned educator, Khan Sirhas begun hosting a grand wedding-style feast for his students. On June 20, he treated approximately 20,000 female students to an elaborate spread featuring a wide variety of dishes. From June 24 onwards, male students have also been invited to participate in the festivities.
Given that Khan Sir’s coaching centre accommodates around 70,000 students, comprising 20,000 girls and 50,000 boys, it was logistically unfeasible to host all students on a single day.
Speaking to Local18, Khan Sir explained that Patna lacks a venue large enough to accommodate such a vast crowd simultaneously, and caterers were unable to prepare food for such a large crowd. Consequently, the feasts are being organised over multiple days.
‘Mahabhoj’: The Grand Wedding Feast
On Tuesday, approximately 15,000 students attended the Mahabhojwhich ran from morning until night. The June 24 event was held in two sessions: JEE and NEET aspirants attended the first, while students preparing for other competitive exams arrived for the evening shift.
Long queues of students were seen entering the Anjuman Islamia Hall, where Khan Sir personally welcomed them with flower petals. Meals were served in various sections of the venue.
Culinary Extravaganza
Mirroring the girls’ banquet, the boys’ feast also featured 156 distinct food items. According to Khan Sir, such feasts will continue in the upcoming days.
The menu included everything from fresh fruits to mutton dishes. Special arrangements were made for fasting students, with a selection of fruits such as mangoes, oranges, guavas, bananas, and papayas. A range of dry fruits, including cashew nuts, raisins, dates, walnuts, pistachios, and almonds, was also on offer, along with a variety of chips and savoury snacks.
The starter section featured items such as Chowmein, Manchurian, Dosa, Chole bhaturePizza, Momo, and Golgappa.
The vegetarian main course included butter naanplain rice, pulaopotato curry, mixed vegetables, matar paneer, rajma, shahi paneerand assorted pakoras.
Non-vegetarian options comprised mutton, fish, eggs, and chicken dishes. These sumptuous meals will continue to be served to students over the coming days.
