Know how the mergers happened
In legal language, merger of one company with another company is called merger and acquisition. According to a Bloomberg report, merger and acquisition of assets worth $96.9 billion took place last year. Which is 18.2 percent more than a year ago. This figure includes all types of deals, pending, proposed and completed. The importance of these figures is also because in the year 2023, mergers and acquisitions had declined by 63.8 percent to reach $81.9 billion.
How was the merger of Reliance-Disney India?
Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries has done a merger of Rs 70 thousand crore with the Indian unit of global media umpire Disney. Both the companies together formed a joint venture on 14 November 2024. In this new company, Reliance Industries’ shares are 16.34 percent, Viacom 18’s shares are 46.82 percent and Disney’s shares are 36.84 percent.
This is how Air India expanded
Air India and Vistara together have almost changed the power structure of the low-cost carrier Indian aviation industry in India. The new company has 5600 flights every week from 90 destinations in India. Singapore Airlines has 56 percent stake in the new company formed after the merger of the two.
Four oil-gas companies merged into one
In September, Gujarat State Petronet revealed plans to restructure its business. Under this, Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation, Gujarat State Petronet, GSPC Energy Limited and Gujarat Gas merged together. It has not yet received the approval of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, BSE, NSE and other shareholders.
Vaccine manufacturer increased participation in film production
Serum Institute CEO Adar Poonawala’s Serene Production, famous for making the Corona vaccine, partnered with Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment. In October, Serene Production announced the transfer of 50 percent shares of Dharma Production and Dharmatic Entertainment. After this deal, Karan Johar still retains 50 percent shares and will remain the executive chairman of both his production houses.
Deal signed between Mankind Pharma and Bharat Serum
Mankind Pharma finalized the deal to acquire Bharat Serum and Vaccine Limited in October. This deal was filed for Rs 13,768 crore. After this, the company’s market share in women’s health and fertility drug business has increased.
Ambuja Cement and Panna Cement merged
Ambuja Cement took over Panna Cement by paying Rs 10,422 crore. This deal became effective from August 16. This deal has made Panna Cement a complete unit of Ambuja Cement. After the merger, the market share of the new company has increased in a large part of the country’s cement business.
