How do sadhus enter the Akhara?

The seeker who wants to become a Sadhu has to stay in the Akhara for some time and render his services. The period of service can range from 6 months to 6 years. He has to leave his worldly life, offer himself Pind Daan, and undergo rigorous penance. The Akhara examines the person’s history, family background and character. After this he gets initiation in Kumbh from the guru of the Akhara. Only after this he is able to join the Akhara.
