
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday, October 18 that the BRICS group is not anti-West, but its goal is to accelerate global economic development. Putin said that the size and growth rate of BRICS countries is much more than that of Western countries. Putin has made this statement before the BRICS summit to be held next week.
“BRICS was never intended against anyone,” Putin said in a statement to ANI. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also said that BRICS is not an anti-Western group, but a non-Western group.” The Russian President said that his aim is to establish BRICS as an important power, which now includes Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and Along with UAE, Putin believes that BRICS can make a major contribution to global politics and trade.
Putin to host BRICS summit in Kazan
Putin will host the BRICS summit in Kazan from 22 to 24 October. In this meeting, promoting political, economic and cultural cooperation among the member countries will be discussed.
Speaking on the war with Ukraine, Putin said, “Russia is willing to resolve this problem peacefully. It was not we who stopped the talks, but the Ukrainian side did it.” He also said that Prime Minister Modi constantly raises this issue in discussions with him and Russia appreciates his concerns.
Putin said, “During talks with PM Modi, every time he raises this issue and expresses his concerns. We are grateful to him for this.”
Popularity of Indian films in Russia
When Putin was asked whether Russia would encourage BRICS member countries for film production, he said that the popularity of Indian films is very high in Russia. He said, “We have a TV channel dedicated to Indian films, and we also organize the BRICS Film Festival. If Indian filmmakers are interested, we can partner to promote them in Russia.”
Putin further said that pharmaceuticals are another area where we can cooperate. He also expressed his desire to discuss this issue with PM Modi.
