What did Ratan Tata leave in his will, from his dog Tito to his butler, brother and Shantanu Naidu?


Ratan Tata Will: Ratan Tata, the country’s gem and honorary chairman of the Tata Group, died this month. But before his death, he had made sure that even after his death, his pet dog Tito would be taken care of at all costs. Ratan Tata brought Tito home six years ago after the death of his old dog. Tito will now stay with his long-time cook Rajan Shaw and will take care of him there. Ratan Tata loved dogs very much. On social media platforms, he always appealed to people to show sympathy towards stray dogs and advocated for the welfare of such dogs.

According to the report of Times of India, Ratan Tata is estimated to have assets worth Rs 10,000 crore. In his will, he distributed his assets to various beneficiaries, including his foundation, brother Jimmy Tata, half-sisters Shireen and Deena Jejeebhoy and household staff members. He has also made arrangements in his will for his butler Subbaiah. He has had close relations with Subbaiah for the last three decades. The name of Shantanu Naidu is also there in the will of Ratan Tata, who was his executive assistant. He has given up his stake in Naidu’s venture Goodfellows, and has also covered Shantanu Naidu’s educational expenses abroad.

Ratan Tata’s properties include a 2,000 square feet sea-side bungalow in Alibaug and a two-storey house on Juhu Tara Road in Mumbai. Apart from a fixed deposit of Rs 350 crore in the bank, he also has 0.83% stake in Tata Sons. Ratan Tata’s stake in Tata Sons will be transferred to Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation. Apart from the shares in Tata Sons, his stake in Tata Motors and other Tata group companies will also be put into the Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation. Ratan Tata and his family inherited a quarter acre of land on the seashore in Juhu after the death of his father Naval Tata. It has been closed for more than two decades and is being considered for sale.

Halekai House in Colaba, where he lived till his death, is owned by Tata Sons’ subsidiary Evart Investments, which will decide its future. Ratan Tata had 20-30 luxury cars which are currently in Halekai House and Taj Wellington Muse Service Apartment in Colaba. Discussions are being held regarding its future. One option also includes acquisition or auction by the Tata Group for exhibition in the Pune Museum.
