The deadly terror attack at Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley, targeting tourists, has sent a shockwave across the country. While the security has been beefed up in the valley, the killing of 26 people has forced tourists to return home.
Travellers have also started cancelling hotel bookings, and shelving plans of a holiday in Jammu & Kashmir. Visuals from the valley showed groups of tourists returning, sharing their fears over the recent attack.
In a video shared by PTI, several tourist vehicles were seen leaving in large numbers.
Another visual shows a group of tourists terminating their plan toward Pahalgam and instead heading back to Delhi. The family members were visibly tense, cutting short the trip.
One of the tourists from Delhi, Sameer Bhardwaj, opened up on how his family decided to cancel plans to visit Pahalgam. “We have been here for the last three days. We had plans to visit Pahalgam, but the situation is not very good, so we are leaving for Delhi. We have to ensure safety, and we can come back later,” he said.
He also expressed concerns over how the terror attack has pushed Kashmir into the past.
