An Indian vlogger’s visit to Vietnam turned into a memorable affair. Wondering, how? She met a local woman who refused to believe that she was from India. The vlogged uploaded a video of her interaction with the Vietnamese woman. Of course, the video quickly caught the attention of social media users. As the clip begins, the Indian vlogger was heard saying, “Selfie lene ke liye ayi hai achanak say” (Going to take a selfie with a stranger). The Vietnamese woman then asked the vlogger about her nationality, to which she replied, “I’m from India.” The shocked woman then repeated, “India?” as she looked at her in disbelief and again said “India?”. The video was posted under the caption, “Indian girl in Vietnam. Yeh kya hogaya” (How is this possible?)
The Vietnamese woman refused to accept that the vlogger was from India. It was only when she showed her some photos and discussed Indian cuisine that she believed her. The Vietnamese woman admitted that she enjoyed Indian food and held the vlogger’s hand.
The unique interaction caught the attention of the Internet, sparking several responses. In addition to the Vietnamese woman, many social users agreed that the vlogger didn’t “look like an Indian.” Shared on February 18, the video has amassed over 7.9 million views so far.
A user asked, “You don’t look typically Indian. Are you from Northeast India?”
Another wrote, “She can’t be Indian. I am sure.”
“India is so diverse yet people assume Indians are all dark-skinned,” an individual said.

The video was shared by vlogger and social media influencer Kriti Karmakar. Kriti has more than 1.3 million YouTube subscribers and more than six lakh Instagram followers. According to her social media bio, she is an Indian who lives in Tokyo, Japan. She graduated from Delhi University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She also holds a Korean language diploma program from the same university.
