An American woman who has been living in Delhi for the past four years with her husband and children has taken to Instagram to warn people against visiting India, though with a clever twist. Using reverse psychology, Kristen Fischer shared her personal experiences from her extended stay in the country, cautioning that tourists should avoid coming unless they’re truly ready, because they “might never want to leave.”
The video clip showcases her journey through India with her family, highlighting their cultural discoveries, experiences with Indian heritage, street food adventures, traditional weddings, vibrant festivals, and much more.
Sharing the video, she wrote in the caption, “Take it from me. Don’t go to India because it will change your life forever. You will meet amazing people, eat some incredible food, see some spectacular sights, and experience such a rich culture and history.”
She added, “You might not ever want to go back. India will forever have my heart, and it could take yours as well. Such a beautiful and life-changing place to be. Love it here! I came four years ago and never looked back.”
Her post resonated with the audience, prompting many to share their own experiences living in India. An Instagram user commented, “This is so true! I did not want to leave when I went.” Another one wrote, “I love that country and its people.”
A South African citizen wrote, “I have visited many times and have always been in my element. In 2018, I visited for 3 months and cried when it was time to leave. Got my OCI. In 2019, I bought my place off-plan in Kerala and moved in 2021. Toured India extensively and still am. I am loving my retirement!”
One of them shared their experiences and wrote, “Indian hospitality is by far the best you’ll experience.” A user shared, “We are going to India the 10th time this year.”
“Completely true!! I went to Mumbai, Goa, Delhi, Manali and Keylong. I love India and Indian people are very nice and friendly, food is delicious,” a comment read.
The post has gathered 18 lakh views since it was shared online.
In India, Kristen Fischer and her husband own a web development company that predominantly serves Western clients and earns in US dollars.
