Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer will be seen together in action for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.

Rohit Sharma unleashed his entertaining persona during the golden jubilee celebration of the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday, January 19. The Indian captain was spotted showcasing his dance moves when singer-composer Shekhar Ravjiani was performing live. The event was attended by several big names in the Indian cricket fraternity. In a post by Mumbai Indians on Instagram, Rohit was encouraging Shreyas Iyer to match his steps with Bollywood tunes. The IPL franchise titled the video– ‘Shanagiri.’
At that moment, Rohit was on the stage alongside former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri. When he saw Iyer in the audience, the veteran opener invited him to join them on the stage. Rohit made some animated gestures which left Iyer in splits. Ravi Shastri also loved their playful interaction. While pointing at Iyer’s reaction, the former India cricketer shared a burst of laughter with Rohit.
Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer will be in action for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy. The BCCI asked all the Test players to make themselves available for the domestic tournament after India’s loss in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. Rohit will play the Round 6 match against Jammu and Kashmir, starting on January 23. He has not featured in the Ranji Trophy since 2015.
“Last 6-7 years, if you go back and look at our calendar, there hasn’t been a time where we were sitting at home for 45 days and there is domestic cricket going on. You do get that time when you finish IPL and if nothing is happening in domestic cricket right after that,” Rohit said while highlighting the importance of playing for the state team.
“But if you see our domestic season, it starts in October, maybe September, and it gets over by February-March and that is the time India plays a lot of cricket as well. So, guys who are not playing certain formats and have time, then they will play,” he added.
After the Ranji Trophy match, Rohit will shift his focus to the ODI format. India will play a home series against England – a platform to prepare for the Champions Trophy. Rohit will continue to lead the Men in Blue at the ICC event, with Shubman Gill as his deputy.
