India batter Rinku Singh was irked by a fan who questioned him and his teammate Suryakumar Yadav about their willingness to visit Pakistan. The incident unfolded shortly after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the Men in Blue would not travel to the neighbouring country for the Champions Trophy 2025. As the reason behind its decision, the board referred to the long-standing political tension between India and Pakistan.
Rinku and Surya who featured in the just-finished T20I series in South Africa were approached by a few Pakistani cricket fans who asked them to share their views on the controversial topic. A video of their interaction was recently shared on X (formerly Twitter) and went viral soon.
The Indian cricketers met those fans at a gaming arena. Suryakumar Yadav responded with an awkward smile when a person asked him, “Ek baat bataiye aap, Pakistan kyun nahi arahe hai? (Tell me one thing, why are you not coming to Pakistan?)”
The confusion was visible on SKY’s face but he was able to handle the situation calmly. Sporting a hearty smile, the Indian T20I captain clarified that the board had taken the call, not the players. “Arrey bhaiya, hamare hath mein thodi hai (Brother, it is not in our hands),” Surya was heard saying in the viral video.
When this conversation was going on, Rinku Singh was also present there. He had his eyes set on the Pakistani fans but looked unfazed about the discussion. One of them suddenly asked Rinku to share his opinion on the Champions Trophy saga. The Kolkata Knight Riders star ignored the question and instead, told the fan to stop filming them. “Video toh band kardo aap (Please shut the video),” Rinku said.
After the clip surfaced on the internet, the majority of the viewers showed support for Rinku Singh. An Indian fan feels Rinku was doing nothing but “giving a genuine reaction.”
Shedding light on Rinku’s expression, a user commented, “It seems like he was about to smash him like he smashes balls for sixes.”

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has yet to confirm its decision about the Champions Trophy. The cricket governing body may opt for a hybrid model so that India can play their matches in the United Arab Emirates.
