A video of a medical professional and soon-to-be mother of twins, went viral for her energetic dance to the Bollywood track Ding Dong Dole alongside choreographer Aadil Khan. The video, which has captured the attention of millions, shows Dr Sonam Dahiya dancing with confidence and enthusiasm, challenging common misconceptions about pregnancy and fitness.
Dr Dahiya on Instagram shared this video. In the caption, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to dance with Aadil Khan, saying it was a “dream come true.” She also took a moment to address some of the critical comments she received, emphasising the importance of cultural understanding and self-expression.
“Exercise is a personal journey, and what I wear while exercising is my choice — one that makes me feel comfortable and empowered in my own skin,” she wrote, adding that personal freedom and self-confidence should never be compromised by societal judgments.
Being a health care professional, Dr. Dahiya also took the opportunity to share important advice for expectant mothers. She told them that physical activity during a healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy is not only safe but beneficial.
She addressed common concerns, noting that exercise does not increase the risk of miscarriage, low birth weight or preterm delivery, but encouraged women to consult their doctors to ensure their activities are safe. Her post struck a chord with many, not just for its inspiring message, but for the reminder that motherhood and fitness can go hand in hand.
In her closing note, Dr. Dahiya emphasised the importance of self-expression and self-decision-making, encouraging people to respect each other’s choices. “We all have the autonomy to make decisions about ourselves- whether that’s what we wear or how we manage our health during pregnancy. Your body, your choice,” she wrote.
